Northern Lights

I went to see Etienne de Crecy's Beats and Cubes set at the O2 in Leeds last night, and, as expected, he wowed us all with his visual lightbox spectacle. The strobes were so dazzling, you could be stone-cold sober and still feel high as a kite.

TROPIC THUNDER

Lord I wish it was summer. I have buckets of love for these round-the-world girls.

A showcase of my recent shoe purchases. I was absolutely over the moon to find the Office purple velvet platforms which I had been lusting after for months, in the sale for meagre ducats. I made a right scene in the shop, screeching 'aren't these the ugliest shoes you've ever seen?! I love them!" loudly across the fitting area, to the absolute horror and bewilderment of both my male friend and the shop assistant.

I fell over thrice that night, but no matter. I blame the absinthe, not the shoes.

Sienna Miller & Hayden Christensen in Factory Girl

I just don't know what to do with myself today, apart from look at pictures of beautiful people.

How ingeniously beautiful are these illustrations? They could almost be from the studio of Alexander McQueen's last collection.

As if model blogger Alexandra Spencer wasn't goddamn fabulous enough, she goes and opens an online store too. This slippery little thing of a silk/mesh playsuit was the first item available (now sold out). I should have jumped on that bandwagon.

Our Eyes Were Wide With Experience

A photographic re-cap of the last few months. By the end of this week, exams will be over, and house-party season begins... I smell excitement and stale beer.

Let's Lightning

I recreated the Aladdin Sane bolt for a 70s party a year or so ago, and now Mollie and Gaga have inspired me to try it out all over again. I'm sick of natural make-up...let's all get experimental!

NINE

Photobucket

I am head over heels in lust with Maestro Contini's car in Nine. All the more motivation to pass my driving test...just so I can even come close to the fantasy of driving one of these jazzy little numbers.

The film itself was spectacular. An unabashedly expensive, superficial, sequin-coated fantasy. I would recommend going to see it for the unbelievable costumes and the dance sequences, but don't go looking for any depth of plot. Judi Dench (oh m'lovely!) was brilliant as always, Marion Cotillard outshone them all, but otherwise, despite the huge cast budget, the acting was a bit stale.

The story revolves around a struggling director and his 'journey', so to film-speak, to composing a script for his latest film. However, along with his work, he has to balance a bevy of indecently beautiful women who all happen to be hopelessly devoted to him in one way or another ( what a burden.) A typically narcissistic plot line which tends to emerge when a writer is composing a novel about the life of a writer or a director is making a film about directing.

TURBAN LOVE

Caught this picture on another blog earlier this week and since I've not been able to get headgear out of my mind. I've got turban fever!

Photobucket

This one goes out to my turban queen, m'lovely Audrey of Frassy Fame. Yes, I have a headscarf-bedecked girl-crush.

I myself have been getting creative with the odd head accessory or two...yes, i did indeed keep my new year's resolution and this will be my first customisation project DONE and DUSTED. There are two mesh and velvet dresses looming over me though, crying out for a big chop with the scissors and a hacked hem job to put a smile on their velvety faces. But that's another story.
